I know, i probably only have one person who ever looks at my blog, lmao. I was working on Chapter 12, and one of my readers/reviewers mentioned this piece really didn't really fit in the Chapter well, so i cut it and thought "Why not post it as an extra?" So here it is, please enjoy.
APOV (Angela)
Sitting in Bella’s room, watching Alice and Jessica face-off over who should “prepare” her for her date was possibly one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. Yes, I’ll admit it; my life lacks excitement most of the time. But this situation was hilarious! Jessica assumed that Alice’s childlike and sweet demeanor meant she would be easy to push around. Alice was much stronger willed and stubborn that you would imagine, however. She easily turned the argument around, explaining to Jess that she should do Bella’s hair, because Alice was ‘not so good with the iron and might burn her’. The reverse psychology worked beautifully. Jessica smirked, and got busy with her task, while Bella just went with the flow of things, obviously not wanting to upset any of her friends.
Bella had a type of shyness that made her seem mysterious. She didn’t want attention, ever, preferring being in the background. It worked to her advantage, because it made you want to know what she was hiding. Being shy never worked for me like it did for Bella. Being extremely intelligent sealed the geek deal. Miss Angela Weber, nerd central, that’s me. I always hid behind my hideous glasses. Yep, they are god-awful, but it keeps me from having to deal with rejection since people tend not to notice me as much. I would never call myself pretty, but I don’t think I am drop dead ugly. I just don’t have any idea how to be a girly girl. Makeup and fashion are not my friends. It just proves that smart people aren’t good at everything. So instead of looking for romance, I watch it from a distance, gaining pleasure from other people’s happiness.
Anyone with eyes could see there was a special spark between Edward and Bella. The tender scene between the two of them at lunch today was straight out of a movie. Surrounded by people, Edward gathered her close to him, gazed at her adoringly, and ran his hands along her arms with slow tantalizing movements. His touch seemed gentle and featherlight, as if she was a fragile piece of crystal that could break with a whisper. As his head descended towards her, I was sure they were going to kiss, right there in the cafeteria! Instead he nuzzled her nose with his, in a sweet Eskimo kiss, and rested his head on hers for a moment. He made such a childlike gesture look sexy and arousing. His stance seemed bittersweet, like he was holding himself back. His expression looked tortured, like his need for her was greater than any other force on earth. What I wouldn’t do for someone to treat me with such adoration, such love!
Bella’s expression seemed dazed, as if she was in a trance of some kind. It was a common effect of close proximity to Edward. When he talked to me earlier, I swear he could have asked me to jump in front of a car and I would have done so. His voice lapped over you like waves teasing the shore, catching your mind in the current and pulling you slowly in. I held my breath when he asked her out in person, hoping she wasn’t going to be stupid enough to say no. It rushed out in my sigh of relief as she agreed to go, thankful that my artless questioning of Bella about him didn’t ruin everything for him. He kissed her gently and released her, his eyes promising more in the evening to come.
This date better turn out well. Bella deserves to be happy. Her happiness is crucial to me; she is my best and only true friend. She went out of her way to make conversation with me and attempted to build my confidence, even though she was the new kid and should be more nervous than me about fitting in. Bella seemed to fit in just fine, and could have cared less if everyone ignored her. The hottest guys in Forks panted after her like dogs. The girls all envied her, especially over Edward. He was hot enough to melt glass! Jess was one of the worst of them all, because she called herself Bella’s friend, but I knew deep down she didn’t think this “infatuation” on Edward’s part would last long and hoped to whisk him away from her. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that Edward looked at Jessica like he knew her true, bitchy and jealous personality.
She boasted about how she was going to make Bella “look amazing” for her date, when I knew she would end up making her look sleazy instead. Jessica was pretty, but most of the pretty was paint, covering a dull, lifeless canvas. Let’s just say I wouldn’t want to wake up in the morning to see her unpainted face. One might go into shock! I grimaced inwardly, imagining her new look once Jessica was done her “masterpiece”. When we pulled up to Chief Swan’s house however, there was a shiny black car in the driveway, Dr. Cullen’s car. Did Edward come to pick her up early? Why didn’t he drive his Volvo?
Jess practically fell out of her car in her rush to get to the door. I followed behind slowly, curious as to what awaited us inside. Bella answered the door almost immediately, still in her baggy school clothes. She invited us in, and headed immediately upstairs, towards her room. “So which one of you called Alice?” she asked, never looking back at us. “She showed up 20 minutes ago, clothes and beautician bag in tow.” She joked, seemingly unbothered by Alice’s enthusiasm.
Oh God, this should be priceless!
Jessica stumbled on the stairs; I never recalled her being so clumsy before. “Alice is here?!” she exclaimed. “How did she know we were coming over?” she asked testily. Bella looked back at us, confused.
“Oh, well maybe Edward told her we were going out tonight and to come beautify me.” She laughed at that. “I guess I can use all the help I can get, right?”
Dear Lord in heaven! Is the girl blind?
I rolled my eyes at her comment; she was bloody ridiculous! Was she truly clueless to how attractive guys found her? Bella was classically beautiful, with delicate features and porcelain doll skin. I would give anything to trade places with her in the looks department, most girls would. Especially if it served you up a hot plate of Edward Cullen, a la carte!
